Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic compound subjected to demethylation or removing a methoxy group of an aromatic compound having a methoxy group, in particular, to provide a method for producing an aromatic compound subjected to demethylation or removing a methoxy group at a high yield, by using a catalyst which is producible at a low cost and readily.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing an aromatic compound, subjecting an aromatic compound having a methoxy group to demethylation or removing a methoxy group in the presence of a catalyst containing γ-alumina.
