Abstract:

To provide a method for chemical recycling of an aromatic polycarbonate.

A method for depolymerizing the aromatic polycarbonate is carried out as follows. The aromatic polycarbonate is reacted with a 1-6C aliphatic alcohol in a subcritical or a supercritical state to carry out alcoholysis of the aromatic polycarbonate. Thereby, the resultant aromatic bisphenol and di(1-6C alkyl) carbonate are recovered. In the method, the depolymerization time t (min) satisfies 0.5<t<100,000/(P×T) when the depolymerization temperature is T (°C) and the depolymerization pressure is P (MPa).
