Abstract:

PURPOSE: To shorten the time taken until a discharge gap is decided by limiting the set range of the discharge gap and deciding a course to decide the discharge gap in the case of deciding the discharge gap in a design stage.
CONSTITUTION: Relation Vs between the discharge gap and surface potential and relation ΔVs between the discharge gap and surface potential dispersion are obtained, and necessary surface potential Vo (-600V) and the range of the discharge gap L2 to L1 (about 5 to 10mm) satisfying that it is within the range of the allowable surface potential dispersion ΔVp (30V) are obtained. By lowering an impressed current, Vs and ΔVs are changed as shown by a chain line in figure. Thus, by utilizing that the range of the discharge gap is narrowed, the discharge gap is converged to one point (about 7.5mm).
