To provide a method for designing optimal layout of a roadside tree for determining a layout plan of the roadside tree (the shape or size of a tree and the number of trees) which is optimal to feeling temperature with an evaluation index under the consideration of both positive and negative effects of the tree.
This method includes: calculating feeling temperature based on at least preliminarily analyzed or measured wind speed and insolation under a tree; plotting a relation between a value calculated by multiplying insolation shielding effects by a tree by each factor related with wind speed decrease effects and the feeling temperature on plane coordinates; determining an approximate expression approximate to the plot while changing variables: x in the expression by using the expression 1 SrVr1-x; and determining the value of each component when the approximate expression is a peak value, wherein Sr=Atn/AE, Vr1=An/VE, Sr: insolation shielding effect factor, Vr1: wind speed decrease effect factor, x: factor effect control coefficient, A: leaf area per tree, At: tree crown projection area per tree, AE: sidewalk area, and n: the number of trees.
