Title:
METHOD FOR DESIGNING SILK-LIKE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3404524
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method useful for designing a silk-like fiber.
SOLUTION: This method comprises a step wherein copolymers each having a β-turn type II structure repeated over the whole molecule are selected from among alternating copolymers of glycine, i.e., a first amino acid, and a second amino acid; a step wherein water-soluble copolymers are selected from among partial chemical modification products of the copolymers each having a β-turn type II structure repeated over the whole molecule; and a step wherein copolymers which, when stretched in the presence of water, cause intramolecular hydrogen bonds contained in the β-turn type II structures to be converted into intermolecular hydrogen bonds to form a silk-like material are selected from among the partially chemically modified water-soluble copolymers.
