Abstract:

To improve braking performance of an ABS without changing tread rubber and block rigidity in tires mounted to a vehicle to which the ABS is fitted.

In this method of designing a tire tread pattern, an average of pitch between circumferentially adjacent two blocks is defined as average arrangement pitch P (θ) at an azimuth angle θ, a function LN1 (θ) as a transversal indicating a kicking-out side ground end edge when a point at a center in the width direction with respect to a peripheral face of a running tire passes through the azimuth angle θ above the tire, and LN2 (θ) as a transversal obtained by parallel displacement of the transversal LN1 (θ) in either one of circumferential directions by α*P (θ). In addition, a region surrounded by the both transversals LN1 (θ) and LN2 (θ) and tread ground ends TE1, TE2 constituting both ends in the tread width direction is defined as WD (θ), and L (θ) is defined as total length of block kicking-out side edges appearing inside the region WD (θ). At this time, the circumferential position of each block is set such that L (θ) is below a predetermined value F even when the azimuth angle θ is any of 0 to 360°.
