To provide a method for the dry desulfurization of solids wherein a calcium compound is used as the desulfurizer, the discharge of the unreacted calcium compound is inhibited, and a stable CaSO4 is produced as a product of the desulfurizing reaction.

In this dry method of removing sulfur content out of solids, a calcium compound is used as the desulfurizing agent, which is added to a sulfur mixture and caused to circulate in two of the three different atmospheres which are a high-temperature oxidizing atmosphere (region A), a reducing atmosphere (region C), and an atmosphere which is a mixture of oxidizing and reducing atmospheres (region B).
