PURPOSE: To desulfurize a methylnaphthalene oil of tar type in high desulfurization ratio and in high yield, by heating at a specific temperature the methylnaphthalene oil of tar type from which nitrogen-containing compounds are removed and dispersing metallic sodium by a high-speed stirring dispersing machine.
CONSTITUTION: Nitrogen-containing compounds such as quinolines, etc., are removed from a methylenenapthalene oil of tar type by sulfuric acid cleaning method, etc., the methylnaphthalene oil of tar type is heated at 140W220°C, preferably 180W200°C, metallic sodium is dispersed into the oil by a high-speed stirring dispersing machine, preferably treated with water or an alcohol to deactivate the metallic sodium and distilled to carry out desulfurization.
EFFECT: The amount of metallic sodium added is also reduced.
