Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect and differentiate the subject virus rapidly and simply by amplifying a base sequence part specific to a subgroup of a gene region encoding a hexon of adenovirus and to a blood group with a primer complementary to a sequence common to a blood group.
CONSTITUTION: A part having a size of 1263 base pairs among 1897th to 2907th base pairs of a gene region encoding a hexon of adenovirus as a part having a base sequence part specific to a subgroup of the gene region and to a blood group is amplified by using two kinds of oligonucleotides complementary to a base sequence common to the blood group in the gene region as primers at 5' end side and 3' end side. An oligonucleotide having a base sequence preferably to a subgroup in the gene region encoding the hexon of adenovirus and to a blood group is labeled and the amplified DNA is hybridized as a DNA probe. The kind of the hybridized DNA probe is analyzed to surely, rapidly and simply detect adenovirus and to differentiate its subgroup and blood group.
