Abstract:
PURPOSE:To easily and surely detect a display mark by injecting ultrasonic waves in a steel pipe having the display mark formed to the surface thereof using an air bubble-containing film and detecting the display mark on the basis of the receiving signal due to an ultrasonic probe of the reflected waves from the steel pipe. CONSTITUTION:An electroforming pipe material 1 immediately after welding is fed in the direction shown by an arrow and the seam part held to a high temp. state by welding of said material is detected by a detector 40 and marking is continuously applied to the surface position of the material of a predetermined angle in the circumferential directions from the detection position thereof to form a strip-like mark 30 from an air bubble-containing film and this mark is detected by a mark detector 44. Subsequently, the seam part 30 is specified on the basis of the mark 30 and the seam part 3 is heat-treated by heat treatment stands ST 1 - 7.
