To provide a method for properly detecting an interface between an anion exchange resin and a cation exchange resin separated in a separation tower, and to provide an interface detection apparatus.
The method comprises an imaging step for picking up the image of an ion-exchange resin layer in a predetermined region at a predetermined height position of the separation tower by imaging from the lateral side, a pixel determination step for determining a pixel signal corresponding to the ion-exchange resin by determining the pixel signal constituting the image obtained in the imaging step, a resin determination step for determining the type of the ion-exchange resin in the image from the number of the pixels of the pixel signal corresponding to the ion-exchange resin or from an area proportion dominated by the pixel signal in the predetermined region of the image, and an interface determination step for determining the interface of the ion-exchange resin layer within the imaging of the image in accordance with the determined resin layer.
