To provide a method for detecting a recording start position in a recording medium such as an optical disk where the control accuracy of shifting of the recording start position generated with respect to a prepit is enhanced, and an information recording device using the method.

A recording medium includes a first track for recording predetermined information, and a second track for recording pre-recording information beforehand. An address signal demodulating means is provided for demodulating an address signal from the pre-recording information recorded in the second track, and a control means is provided for recording a plurality of pieces of measurement information at predetermined intervals, the information being set to a recording state disabling reading of the pre-recording information when recorded adjacently to the pre-recording information in the predetermined position of the first track. By the address signal demodulating means, the address signal of an area where the measurement information is recorded is demodulated to detect the position of the pre-recording information not read from the address signal, and the recording start position of the first track is detected from the position of the pre-recording information not read.
