Title:
METHOD FOR DETECTING RUNAWAY OF CPU
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3145773
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve a CPU runaway detecting function by outputting a reset signal after checking that an interruption subroutine to be properly executed at normal time is normally operated.
CONSTITUTION: Since an interruption based upon a watchdog timer 17 is a non-maskable interruption, a reset signal is surely send to the CPU 10 if a main routine does not normally flow due to the runaway of the CPU 10. On the either hand, an interruption based upon a timer 18 is a maskarable interruption, so that the CPU 10 runs away and an interruption control flag is turned to an inhibited state, the interruption from the timer 18 is not accepted even when the main routine normally flows. Thereby when the timer interruption subroutine is not normally executed, the timer 17 is driven and the CPU 10 is reset similarly to the case that the main routine is not normally driven.
