Abstract:
To provide a method for detecting oxides and condensates floating on the surface of a molten metal always retained to a fixed height when a molten metal is subjected to low pressure casting.SOLUTION: In a method for detecting floating matters present on the surface of a heated and held molten metal 400 held in a stoke 200 for pouring the molten metal 400 into a mold 300, the molten metal 400 is retained at a prescribed position using a first sensor arranged at the outside of the stoke 200, the mold 300 is released, a second sensor is inserted therein, the position of the molten metal surface 410 of the molten metal 400 is measured, and the presence of the floating matters is decided from a difference between the position of the molten metal surface 410 retained by the first sensor and the position of the molten metal surface 410 measured by the second sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
