Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting uneven preheating of a steel material in a scarfing apparatus, capable of easily detecting uneven preheating in the width direction of the steel material in preheating.SOLUTION: A method for detecting uneven preheating of a steel material W according to the present invention detects uneven heating of the steel material W by performing the steps of: dividing the steel material W into two or more regions in the width direction in an image captured by imaging means 8 for capturing a surface of the steel material W opposing to a nozzle 3 of a scarfing apparatus 1, and setting the divided regions as measuring regions i; measuring in each measuring region i, time change of an average value of surface brightness of the steel material W and also a time Tat which the surface brightness of the steel material W exceeds a threshold value; calculating in each measuring region i, a melting duration Twhich is a difference between the time Tat which the surface brightness of the steel material W exceeds the threshold value and a preheat finishing time Tat which an instruction to finish the preheating is given to the scarfing apparatus 1; and determining that the uneven heating has occurred when a ratio of the melting duration Tin each measuring region i and the largest value Tamong the melting duration Tin each measuring region i becomes a threshold value or less.
