Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting "good vascular endothelial cells" having an inhibitory effect on the growth of vascular smooth muscle cells, and to provide a therapeutic technology of transplanting the "good vascular endothelial cells" to the arterial inner surface.SOLUTION: The inventor has identified a causative gene RGS5 (Regulator of G-protein signaling 5) that lowers inhibitory action of vascular endothelial cells onto the growth of vascular smooth muscle cells. Thus, by checking the expression of mRNA or protein of RGS5, it becomes possible to identify "good vascular endothelial cells" as the RGS5-negative vascular endothelial cells in a short time without culture facilities. Thus obtained "good endothelial cells" can be efficiently supplied to an arterial inner surface where the endothelial cells have been stripped by using "per-vasa vasorum transplantation" technology to restore the vascular structure. For example, the "good vascular endothelial cells" embedded in a substrate material that becomes gel in the body may be put on the blood vessel wall of the artery subjected to PCI treatment etc.
