Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting a weld groove part capable of correctly extracting positions and a shape of the groove part even from picture data having noise.
SOLUTION: A low pass filter processing is applied to photographic picture data of a groove part to remove noise, target shape data of the groove part are pattern matched to the processed picture data 4 to obtain a pseudo groove part, two bottom points B1, B2 in the pseudo groove part and first reference edge positions E1, E2 of both sides in the vicinity of the surface of a member 3 to be welded are obtained, a parabola S passing through the middle position of two bottom points and both the first reference edge positions is obtained, points of intersection of the parabola and the surface of the member to be welded are set as a second reference edge positions C1, C2, and both the second reference edge positions and the apex of the parabola are set as temporary edge positions and a temporary deepmost position of the groove part. Next, an offset quantity which is preliminarily obtained in accordance with the shape of the groove part is added to these temporary edge positions and temporary deepmost position, and whereby the edge positions and the deepmost position of the groove part are detected.
