To provide a method for detecting a target nucleic acid, capable of detecting the presence or absence of nucleic acid amplification or an amount of the amplified nucleic acid in the gene amplification of a multiple number of target genes at the same time with the gene amplification reaction, without receiving the effect of temperature change in the gene amplification and capable of detecting more accurately by detecting only the reaction with a nucleic acid probe, and also to provide an examination kit used for the above method.
This method of detection is provided by preparing a fine metal structural material fixed with a nucleic acid probe and an examination chip having an immobilized substrate body fixed with the fine metal structural material, mixing a specimen containing the target nucleic acid and a gene-amplifying reaction reagent, bringing the examination chip in contact with the mixture to perform the gene amplification reaction on the examination chip and detecting also the optical characteristics of the examination chip. Further, the examination kit equipped with the examination chip and the gene amplification reaction reagent is provided.
