There is provided a method of deciding the abnormality of the charged number of the blanks 7 in the press forming of a metal sheet using a punch 3, a die 2 and pads 1 which are opposed to the die 2 through a blank 7 composed of the metal sheet, the distance d1 between the surface of the pad 1 and the surface of the die 2 when the increase of the load which acts on the pads 1 and/or the die 2 is started is measured and a the presence of the abnormality of the charged number is decided by a value dividing a distance d1 by the thickness of the blank 7 the charging of which is predetermined.
