Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce difficulty in judging the timing of replacing a carbon dioxide absorbent due to degrading thereof in the isotope gas analytic measurement when it is used in the reference absorptiometry made by filling a cell with a reference gas with the zero concentration of CO2, more specifically air through a carbon dioxide adsorbent for accurate measurement of the absorbance of 12CO2 or 13CO2 prior to the main measurement. SOLUTION: There are arranged a first process in which air passing through a container 36 holding a carbon dioxide absorbent is introduced into a cell 11 to measure the quantity of light and a second process in which air not passing through the container 36 holding the carbon dioxide absorbent is introduced into the cell 11 from a valve V5 to measure the quantity of light. The ratio between the quantity of light measured in the first process and the quantity of light measured in the second process is compared with a threshold to judge the capacity of the carbon dioxide absorbent. This eliminates personal difference in judgment and permits the use of the carbon dioxide absorbent to the full capacity thereby achieving a highly reliable spectrometry of the isotope gas.
