Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for estimating the state of charge of an auxiliary battery without using a second BMS module, saving cost thereby.SOLUTION: A method for determining charge in a battery is disclosed, which comprises; connecting a main battery to an electrical load; measuring current Idrawn from the main battery while the main battery is connected to the electrical load; connecting an auxiliary battery in parallel with the main battery and the electrical load; measuring current Idrawn from the main battery while the main battery is connected to the electrical load and the auxiliary battery; and estimating the state of charge of the auxiliary battery based at least on a difference between Iand I.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
