Abstract:

To provide a method of determining the embedment depth of an impermeable wall which enables reasonable and safe setting of the embedment depth of the impermeable wall.

In a method of determining the embedment depth of an impermeable wall 1 under a condition where the ground under an excavation bottom is formed by layering an upper aquifer S1, a first aquiclude C1, an intermediate layer M, and a second aquiclude C2 in the order from above, an applied hydraulic pressure U₂ generated by a seepage flow from below and acting on the undersurface of the first aquiclude C1 is calculated, a load balance F_S2 at the undersurface of the first aquiclude C1 is calculated using the applied hydraulic pressure U₂, and an embedment depth l_w of the impermeable wall 1 is determined so that the load balance F_S2 exceeds a safety factor F_S.
