Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an egg yolk protein of shrimps, antibody against the protein and a method for determining maturity of shrimps by using the antibody.
SOLUTION: This protein comprises a specific amino acid sequence derived from shrimps and an amino acid sequence in which one or plural amino acids are deleted, substituted or added in the amino acid sequence and has a function of vitellogenin. This antibody recognizes the yolk protein of shrimps belonging to the order Decapoda of Crustacea, but does not recognize yolk proteins of animals belonging to other orders of Crustacea. This method for determining maturity of shrimps belonging to the order Decapoda of Crustacea comprises bringing the antibody recognizing the yolk protein of shrimps into contact with humor of shrimps.
