To determine a shape of a train head part optimum for a plurality of characteristics.
The optimum cross-section area distribution of a head part is derived so as to reduce tunnel boom generated when a train rushes into a tunnel (process S1). A plurality of shapes of head parts, which have the cross-section area distribution derived in the process S1, are made (process S2). A simulation according to fluid analysis is performed with respect to the plurality of shapes of head parts made in the process S2 and a plurality of aerodynamic characteristics for the shapes of the head parts are estimated (process S3). Pareto solutions are derived by using a genetic algorithm as optimization technique based on the plurality of aerodynamic characteristics estimated in the process S3 (process S4). The shape of the head part is selected and determined from among the Pareto solutions derived in the process S4 (process S5).
