Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension in a patient to which a prostanoid has already been administered as part of a treatment plan.SOLUTION: An apparatus with means for administering a vasoactive agonist to a pulmonary arterial hypertension patient is configured for steps including: determining whether a patient has an enlarged right ventricle or right ventricular dysfunction; and weaning the patient off the prostanoid if the patient does not have an enlarged right ventricle or right ventricular dysfunction. In a method, the vasoactive agonist is nitric oxide.SELECTED DRAWING: None
