PURPOSE: To improve the uniformity in the development of a photosensitive lithographic printing plate (PS plate) by using a roll-shaped member which is partly immersed into a soln. tank and developing said plate in such a manner that the front end of the conveyed plate contacts the roll member on a liquid surface and is introduced to the underside of the liquid surface by rotation.
CONSTITUTION: The PS plate is carried into a developing section by a feed roller pair 1. A developing soln. is supplied to a developing soln. supplying member 3 constituted of two sheets of plate materials from a pipe 2 having plural holes on the side faces, by which the developing soln. is supplied uniformly in the transverse direction of the PS plate and the development is executed. While the developing soln. is held on the plate surface, the PS plate is conveyed by a movable guide roller 14 until the plate contacts a plate-shaped guide 5, by which the plate is guided by a developing roll guide 6 to enter the developing soln. tank 7. The PS plate is thus developed further. The developing process is thus always maintained stable by using the alkaline developing soln. in which water is used as the principle solvent.
