To provide a method and a device capable of easily and reliably aligning a large number of chopsticks which are fed disorderly after the chopsticks are cleaned in a predetermined direction.
In this method, the chopsticks are horizontally dropped or lowered on an intermediate receiving means, and the direction of the chopsticks is aligned by using the fact that the chopsticks are unbalanced when the bisection positions of the chopsticks are on the intermediate receiving means, and each set of chopsticks is dropped with its thicker head side being first. Thus, when the chopsticks are horizontally dropped or lowered on the intermediate receiving means, each set of chopsticks on its bisectional position are placed on the intermediate receiving means. In this condition, each set of chopsticks is unbalanced, and its thicker head is dropped first, and can be discharged as it is thereafter via a slope or the like. Thus, the directions of the thicker head and the thinner distal side of each set of chopsticks are aligned.
