To provide a method and device for applying a viscous material, capable of stably applying the viscous material by preventing the regular contact of the viscous material with air and which is free from the swelling out of the viscous material in the operation, the deformation of a screen mask at the time of separating a material to be coated from the screen mask and the fear of the deterioration of the transferring property of the viscous material.
In the method and device for applying the viscous material on a material to be coated by using a coating unit having a storage chamber for the viscous material and provided with a discharge port for the viscous material to be communicated with the storage chamber and allowing the discharge port of the coating unit to contact with the screen mask to relatively move the coating unit on the screen mask, the discharge port and the screen mask are positioned to press the discharge port to the screen mask at the time of operating the coating unit and to allow the discharge port to contact with the screen mask before and after the operation of the coating unit.
