Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rate calculating method and its device for easily performing inter-rate notation and binary information conversion and inter-rate information arithmetic operation (four fundamental rules of arithmetics or the like).
SOLUTION: This is a rate calculating method for converting the information of prescribed rate notation including the information (e) of an exponent part constituted of E bits and information (m) constituting a mantissa part constituted of M bits into binary information constituted of (2E+M) bits. Then, the information (e) of the exponent part is decoded, and a bit '1' is set in the 2e+M place of the binary information, and the information (m) constituting the mantissa part is set in the lower M bits. The information of the rate notation is converted into the binary information so that inter-rate information four fundamental rules of arithmetics or the like can be easily performed by a computer or the like.
