Abstract:

PURPOSE: To melt the tack welded parts in the groove faces of members to be welded and to obtain continuously penetration beads by tack welding partially the groove faces and subjecting the tack welded parts and non-tack welded parts to regular welding under varied welding conditions.

CONSTITUTION: Members 11 to be welded are butted to each other and the groove faces 12 thereof are tack welded at prescribed intervals to form tack weld beads 13. The operator holds a welding torch 3 and welds the non-tack welded parts having no beads 13 under ordinary welding conditions to form penetraton beads 16. When the welding approaches to the beads 13, the operator pushes a push button switch 10 for calling the 2nd welding conditions provided to the torch 3. Then the 2nd welding conditions which are beforehand set are called out, and the tack welded parts are subjected to regular welding under the conditions differing from the ordinary welding conditions. The beads 13 are melted under the 2nd conditions to weld the members so as to obtain continuously beads 16. The operator then presses the switch 10 to reset automatically the welding conditions to the main welding conditions and subjects the non-tack welded parts to the regular welding. Here, 1 in the figure denotes an electric power source for welding and 2 a control device for feeding, respectively.
