PURPOSE: To realize a stable carrying schedule and an accurate combustion control and to execute the operation of a continuous type heating furnace with low fuel unit consumption by suitably setting an ejecting pitch of slabs in the furnace, in the control method of the continuous type heating furnace.

CONSTITUTION: The continuous type heating furnace 5 is provided with a device 1 for calculating the position of the slab Si and a device 2 for calculating the time since entering the slab into the furnace. The min. staying time in the furnace and the min. ejecting pitch of each slab are obtd. for the functions of slab size, kind of steel, aimed ejecting temp., etc., and the ejecting pitch of the whole slabs in the furnace is calculated with an ejecting pitch arithmetic unit 3 at the time of ejecting each slab.
