PURPOSE: To present the convenient device and method for controlling an exchange processing while reducing the burden of an operator by automatically instructing transfer to a talking device concerning the method and device for controlling the exchange processing to execute connection between a relevant telephone set and a call originating side telephone set and to execute connection with the talking device as needed.

CONSTITUTION: It is judged (S1) whether a received phone number is a phone number for automatic switching or not. When it is for automatic switching, it is judged (S2) whether the phone number is received within prescribed service hours or not and when it is out of the service hours, the transmission of a message is instructed by executing the connection with the talking device (S3). When it is within the service hours or when the received phone number is not the phone number for automatic switching, an extension number obtained from the received phone number is identified and the connection between the relevant telephone set and a line (S4) is instructed.
