To appropriately apply a motor-driven type punch press to not only punching work but forming work while making the most of a merit of the motor-driven type which is excellent in responsiveness.
This method is a control method of a punch press the ram (5) of which is vertically moved by directly driving a crankshaft (3) by a prescribed angle with a servomotor (2). An angular range equivalent to a prescribed height above the bottom dead center of the crankshaft (3) is preset as a restrict region. The angle of the crankshaft (3) which is equivalent to the height of the position of the descent end of the ram (5) in the work of an NC data or an input data is determined on the basis of the NC data or the input data. When the determined angle of the crankshaft (3) is within the restricted region, the angle of the crankshaft (3) is corrected so as to upward separate from the restricted region. In actual work, working data in which the angle after correction is taken as the angle of the crankshaft (3) equivalent to the height of the position of the descent end of the ram (5) are used.
