To provide a device, a method, and a product for controlling a transmission during the operation of a brake in a machine having an engine and an electronic-controlled transmission.
A method for operating the transmission of a machine during the operation of a brake includes the step of obtaining the data on a brake pedal position, speed of the machine, engine rotation speed of the machine, present transmission operating gear, and lowest operating gear. Next, a shift- down threshold is set depending on whether the brake pedal position is in a shift-down position or a brake mode. Next, when the speed of the machine and the engine rotation speed of the machine are smaller than the shift-down thresholds and the transmission operating gear is not the lowest operating gear, the transmission is shifted down. Then, when the pedal position is in the neutral mode, the speed is smaller than the neutral threshold speed, and the transmission is at the lowest operating gear, the transmission is set to neutral. Lastly, the step is repeated until the transmission is set to neutral.
