A ringer is detected from a modem 101 and off-hooked, an E-mail address of a transmission destination is received from a DTMF receiving means 102 as a combination with a DTMF signal, the image from the facsimile is received by an image receiving means 103, received image data is developed into a bit map, reduction is executed by an image reduction processing means 104, the reduced image is encoded into an MIME format by an MIME encoding means 105, and the image encoded to the designated address is transmitted by a mail transmitting means 106 with a network adapter 107.
