Abstract:
To provide an implantable device which can convey a therapeutic agent to tissue or organs for a long period of time.
The device is a cylinder 10 including a wall 20 which does not exhibit penetratability into giant molecules like proteins and cells. The cylinder wall 20 may be made of silicon of a medical grade, stainless steel, titanium or plastic. A biodegradable matrix 30 and the therapeutic agent intimately mixed therewith are packed into the cylinder 10. Terminals 15 and 17 of the cylinder 10 are opened toward the tissue.
