PURPOSE: To provide a method for selecting the optical material of a color correction lens system.

CONSTITUTION: Concerning the prescribed lens system, the terms of colors in axial direction are generated and concerning the prescribed lens system, the terms of colors in lateral direction are generated. Then, the plural terms of glass are calculated from plural linear algebraic expressions for which the terms of axial and lateral colors generated as the matrix of plural functions are used as one coefficient value of the matrix. Then, this method is provided for selecting the optical material for the color correction optical system while including the determination of specified glass material and prescribed lens design as the functions of calculated terms of glass.
