Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the pressure between electrode tips with excellent accuracy by measuring the elastic displacement of the electrode tips after a welding gun starts pressurization, and obtaining the pressure by the displacement through operation.
SOLUTION: An electrode tip 9 is driven in the direction approaching an electrode tip 10 by a servo motor 3. When the electrode tip 9 is abutted on the electrode tip 10, and driven in the direction to press the electrode tip 10, the pressure F is generated, and the elastic deformation is generated in the electrode tip 10. When the electrode tip 9 is abutted on the electrode tip 10, the load current flowing in a motor 3 is rapidly increased. The rotation of an encoder 4 is measured from the time to detect the change of the load current, and the elastic deformation of the electrode tip 10 is calculated based thereon. The pressure F is obtained from the relationship between the already obtained elastic deformation and the pressure F. A pressure correction system 5 drives the servo motor 3 through a motor driver 6 in the forward/reverse direction to set the pressure F to an appropriate value. The pressure F can be correctly measured without being affected by the disturbance.
