Abstract:
PURPOSE: To continue accurate detection of the position of indexes even when such a negligible abnormality is found as causing no any hindrance in the later process of continuous length paper provided with the indexes of the different light transmitting or reflecting light amounts.
CONSTITUTION: In a method wherein the light transmitting amount of a mount 4 having labels 5 provided thereon lengthwise at intervals is detected by a light detector 1 provided in the transfer passage and the detection value Vs obtained by the light detector 1 is compared with the threshold values VH and VL to detect the position of the index between the labels 5, the threshold values are renewed based on the peak values (max. value and min. value) of the detection value Vs each time the distances between at least three labels are detected, while the mounts 4 are being transferred.
