Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETECTING VITAL MOLECULE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3296593
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To detect existence and density of a vital molecule by accurately controlling energy coupled to the vital molecule.
CONSTITUTION: Vital molecules 41a-41c are contacted with a surface having less conductive film interposed between a medium 35 of optical high density and a medium 40 of optically low density and the medium side of optically high density is irradiated by (P) deflecting electromagnetic wave. An incident angle (θ) of an electromagnetic wave 42 of the electromagnetic wave impacting to a surface 39 equals an angle for causing essentially plasmon resonance and surface plasmon wave by the vital molecule is generated. Strength of the electromagnetic wave caused by reflection of the vital molecule is detected on a boundary surface and existence and/or density of the vital molecule is detected by analyzing the reflected or caused electromagnetic wave. The incident angle (θ) of the (P) reflecting electromagnetic wave 42 is controlled based on the strength of the electromagnetic wave reflected on the surface. The strength is nearly kept to minimum corresponding to generation of the surface plasmon resonance and the reflected angle of the reflected electromagnetic wave substantially corresponds to the incident angle (θ).
