To provide a method and a device for determining the length of the residual effective service life of an oil filter of an engine.
An operator is informed of a service life state of the oil filter by monitoring the oil filter service life. The oil filter service life is calculated on the basis of oil pressure sensors arranged on the inlet and an outlet of the oil filter. A pressure drop, an oil temperature and an engine speed from a tachometer are used as a factor of algorithm for calculating a percentage (%) of the remaining filter life. When the percentage (%) is not more than a prescribed level, a system warns the operator of the effect of replacing the filter. When the percentage (%) is higher than the prescribed level, the system records the extent of the remaining oil filter service life, and repeats a process.
