Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a sharp copy having no fog by allowing a magnetic attractive force to operate on single-component magnetic toner, scattering the toner by mechanical oscillations, and performing contactless development.

CONSTITUTION: Three forces, i.e. dynamical force in the direction of an electrostatic latent image holding member due to oscillations of a piezoelectric oscillator 4 applied with a high frequency voltage, attractive force to a toner carrier (electrode 6) by the magnetic field produced by a magnetic field generating part 9, and gravitational force operate on the magnetic toner 10 supplied onto the electrode 6 which serves as the toner carrier, and an electrostatic attractive force is applied to image parts of the electrostatic latent image holding member 1; and those four forces are balanced to stick the toner selectively on only the image parts of the electrostatic latent image holding member 1. No AC voltage is applied between the electrostatic latent image holding member and toner carrier, so no influence is exerted upon the electrostatic latent image holding member, the disorder of a latent image is extremely small, and the sharp copy image having neither fogging nor disorder is obtained even after numbers of copies are taken by single-time exposure.
