METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DISPLAYING CHARACTER SYMBOL WITH BORDER

PURPOSE: To eliminate a need to use an image memory and to display an arbitrary inexpensive character symbol, having a border at an optionally selectable side part by generating a selectable color at a relative raster point of a raster line, delayed with a shade signal.
CONSTITUTION: This device is equipped with a controller 10 which reads information on a 1st number of a raster line, before and/or right after a character symbol as to a side selected for the border, a composition device 16 or the like which generates a line signal by combining information on relative columns of the rater line. Then the device has a 1st delay device 22 which delays information on a momentary raster line to be displayed with a 2nd number of a column outputted as a character symbol signal, corresponding to the width of the border and a 2nd delay device which delays the line signal by up to double as long as the 1st number. Delay line signals in columns are put together, according to the side part selected for the border. Once a character symbol signal is generated, the composed and delayed line signal is suppressed and signals which are not suppressed are used as shade signals to generate a selectable color at a related raster point.
