The image display method in which the frame frequency of input image signals 52 and 54 is multiplied by an integer number, a new image signal 64 is formed in the added frame, and image display is implemented using the input image signals 52 and 54, and the formed image signal 64, comprises: a step for creating a primary intermediate image signal by the linear sum of the successive input image signals 52 and 54; a step for creating a secondary intermediate image signal by processing the primary intermediate image signal with a lowpass filter; a step for creating a tertiary intermediate image signal 62 by extracting only the secondary intermediate image signal corresponding to the varying area of the successive input image signals 52 and 54; a step for creating a common image signal 60 by extracting only the image signal in the unvarying area of the successive input image signals 52 and 54, and a step for creating the formed image signal 64 by synthesizing the tertiary intermediate image signal 62 and the common image signal 60.
