Abstract:

PURPOSE: To decide the distance from the object of a camera, and to perform the rapid automatic focusing of the camera so as to obtain an in-focus image from an image in which blur is caused by the camera by recording and processing at least two images of the object.
CONSTITUTION: A camera system includes a light filter LF, an aperture stop, an optical system OS, and an image detector. At least two images of the object are recorded by different values with respect to a set of camera parameter, and two normalization images are obtained. The values of the parameter and the normalization image are substituted to an expression obtained by equalizing two expressions with respect to the in-focus image of the object. A set of solutions with respect to the distance of the object is obtained by solving the expression obtained as the result. The third image of the object is recorded by a new value with respect to the set of camera parameter so as to decide the solution of the distance which coincides with the new value with respect to the parameter, so that the object can be obtained.
