Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extinguish a fire caused by spatters generating at the time of laser machining of a work on a brush table.
SOLUTION: A work W placed on a brush table 19, on the surface of which a number of bristles 17 are planted, is machined by being irradiated with a laser beam from a nozzle at the lower end of a laser machining head 11. The brush table 19 around the laser machining head 11 is covered with a machining head cover 29. A fire detecting sensor 41 is provided in the machining head cover 11, with a device 51 for supplying a fire extinguishing agent 45 installed inside the cover 11. In case of a fire on the brush table 19 due to spatters, temperature rises in the machining head cover 29. By the detection signal of the fire detecting sensor 41, the controller 43 gives a command to the device 51 for supplying a fire extinguishing agent 45, which is injected from the injection nozzle 47 of the device 51 into the machining head cover 11, thereby extinguishing the fire.
