The ingot 24 is put in the bore 22 of a container 18, and is sent inside an opening part for forming of a die 32 in the extrusion direction by an extruding stem 16. Before the ingot 24 advances into the die opening part, the ingot 24 is extended by a quantity corresponding to the width (t) of a collar from the container 18, and a disk like slice 48 is removed by shearing from the free edge of the ingot. Next, the free edge of the ingot 24 is pushed into the die opening part. To perform this operation, a shearing tool 38 is installed to rearward of the edge 23a of the container 18 facing the die 32, and a freely movable shearing blade 39 is positioned at an entrance to the container bore 22.
