Abstract:

To maintain an air flow in a constant state even when one of fans is failed in trouble and to perform cooling of a plurality of electronic assemblies.

A housing is provided to have a plenum chamber 20 between a rack chamber 22 and a fan chamber 26. The rack chamber contains a plurality of electronic assemblies, for example, a hard disc drive device, and the fan chamber contains a plurality of individual fans. The rack chamber induces a flow of air from the rack chamber to the fan chamber through the plenum chamber, and a uniform pressure is generated in the plenum chamber and an equal velocity of flow flowing across a disc drive device in the rack chamber is generated. A fan is controlled through a control circuit, and by detecting the trouble of one fan and increasing the speed of a remaining fan, a velocity of flow of an air flow is maintained at a constant value.
