PURPOSE: To enable inexpensive optical communication path selection and decoding for super high-speed femtosecond data pulses by making a hologram, generated on a spectrum surface of a Fourier transforming lens, supply a hologram for matched-filter data processing of a super high-speed light signal.
CONSTITUTION: A spatial amplified and modulated light 'fingerprint' image of a time area pulse pattern is generated by supplying a time area electric signal pattern 40 to a liquid crystal spatial optical modulator(SLM) arranged on the input surface of the Fourier transforming lens 16. The 'fingerprint' image of a reference pulse signal is provided with electric reference pulses 42. Those two 'fingerprint' images are backlit with a beam, shown by a white void arrow 46, from a single-mode diode laser 48. preferably, the hologram is recorded on an MQW material. Therefore, the matched-filter processing of time area pulse data can be performed without using a super high-speed pulsed reference laser.
