To provide an image forming method capable of reducing the damage of a photoreceptor even of it is used for a long period by minimizing the occurrence if the damage of the surface of the photoreceptor in an image forming device using an intermediate transfer belt.
This image forming method is constituted so that a toner image T is formed on a latent image carrier 1, the intermediate transfer belt 8 whose rear surface is provided with a primary transfer roll 5-1 is brought into contact with the toner image and an electric field is applied on the primary transfer roll, to transfer the toner image to the intermediate transfer belt and then, the toner image after being transferred to a transfer paper 11. In such a case, the latent image carrier 1 has a cycle not for forming an image and the quantity of a current applied to the primary transfer roll, at this cycle is larger than that at an image forming cycle.
